Last Blog Ever for Blogger.com

Its been a quick ten week period where we started to write this blog for English class. It has been cool to have a place to go to to just write and have people reply. It was actually 11 weeks if we count the spring break week. Before this, I never have touch a blog because I did not think it was worth my time nor was it cool, but since then, I love to go on and just write. I can write on and on about anything, but sometimes it is hard to find a topic to write on because at least one post per week needs a webpage to support what I am talking about. Sometimes I get lazy writing and just download an app on my mytouch called blogger which then i can talk and it would type for me. It is the perfect app for me when I am lying down or just driving. Currently right now, I am talking on my phone and it is typing this. This is an awesome app if anyone has an android phone. This is my last blog for this website, but I will try to still blog on the csulb.edu website that Professor William will provide for us. Thank you for reading my blog and the older blogs. Its been great. I know I will use this blogger.com again one day after this class is over because it is so easy to use and its a place I can express myself with some support from others.

2011 NBA Playoffs

Playoffs for the NBA started yesterday with the Chicago Bulls opening it up with the Indiana Pacers. The game was close with the Indiana Pacers up all game until the final minutes of the game where the MVP of the league took over the game helping the Bulls with a defeat over the Pacers. The next game was the Philadelphia 76ers vs the Miami Heat. This is a series where I believe would be the most boring series because Miami Heat was the clear favorite in this series. The Miami Big Three with Lebron James, Dwayne Wade, Chris Bosh was just too beastly for the Philly 76ers because they have no one to actually match up against the big three. The next game was the opening of the best series I believe in the Dallas Mavericks and the Portland Trailblazers. The Dallas Mavericks will win this series, but I want the trailblazers to win. My prediction is right because the Mavericks won by 7 points with the 7footer was unstoppable. Finally the last game was the Atlanta Hawks going up against the Orlando Magics. The Magics are the upperdog but seems like the underdog because they lost to the Hawks 3 to 1 during the regular season. Today is going to be a good playoffs season with Lakers going to kill the Hornets!!!

Movies with Some Friends

I just recently went to the movies with some old friends from Whittier, California. My friends and I watch a movie called Limitless. It was basically the best movie I have seen in the past few weeks. I thought the movie Paul I watch sucked and Just Go With It was kind of boring. I believe that people should go watch Limitless because it is about a movie that help a guy who knew nothing to do with his life and after he took his pills, he realize what he been missing all of his life and he could function his whole brain. Do not read on this point if you guys do not want to know the ending. It ended with letting the crowd believe that the main character is off the pill and living his normal self but the last scene made us realize otherwise when he could learn a new language in two seconds to talk to the waiter. I think this movie was well written and it deserves consideration for the best movie of 2011. I love movies that make me think and that makes me over-think. I actually believe that he was off the pill until my friends and I had an argument about how the movie really ended. This is one of the movies I suggest people who wants to have a good time to watch.

Lakers Back on Track

Lakers recently been on a struggle by losing five in a row to teams such as Denver Nuggets, Utah Jazz, Golden State Warriors, Portland Trailblazers, and Oklahoma City Thunders. Lakers was recently the best team after All Star Break losing only one game to the Miami Heat out of 18 games they played. Then the Lakers just took a hit into the wall and lost five in a row. today's game should be one of the best games for the lakers to get back on track to the get ready for the playoffs. The Lakers will take on the Spurs at 7:30 pacific time which I know a lot of people will watch. The Los Angeles Lakers beat The San Antonio Spurs by a large margin to show that they are ready for the playoffs. The ending score was 102 - 93 with Kobe Bryant exploding with a game high of 27 points. The real MVP of that game was Pau Gasol with 17 points and 17 rebounds. Without him, the Lakers would of loss. The Lakers are going into the playoffs as the number two seed with only the Spurs above them as the number one seed. Winning today showed the LA fans that we could beat any team when it comes to the playoffs.

1st Week Back Coming to an End

One week had already pass since my spring break was over, I am ready to say that I was over reacting when I thought this was going to be a hard week for me to go back to school and be productive after a week off for spring break. I believe that this was a good week bad, it was not intense nor was it hard, I did learn new things but not into detail just yet so that everyone can start to get back into the mode for the school. What I did this week was perfect. Today I am planning to party because the first week of school is over and I am ready to relax. I been going to the REC Center everyday after all my classes, and it seems like not that much people showed up there because people were probably lazy due to it being the first week back. Maybe some people stayed at home to see the LAKERS because right now, they are on a roll. Best team since the All Star Break and Kobe Bryant is getting really serious consideration for the Most Valuable Player (MVP). Personally, I believe that Kobe Bryant might get second or third, but there is no way he will become the MVP because Derrick Rose is a lockin for MVP already.

1st Day Back

Its my first day back and it was not as bad as I thought it would be. First class was English which was at 8am. That was the only bad part because I was not ready to wait up that early. We had to talk about our readings and get prepare for our essay. What I basically remember doing is just taking notes. I basically slept during my two hour break before going to my next class at 11 with History 172. I love that class because I always loved History since I was a kid. Afterwards, I had Math class which I had to pay full attention in because I had to take Math class every semester due to becoming an engineer. Finally I got to my last class which was Psychology.  I love this class because I can talk to anyone in there and I just love working in groups. When school was over, I felt like it was not that bad for the first day back from spring break. I realize that I still had a lot of energy left so I decided to go to the REC Center to play some ball and lift weights. I played basketball first because I did not want to be sore when playing basketball. It was a pretty good day back. Better than I thought it would be.

Not Feeling It

Spring break is almost over for most cal state students. I felt like it past by way too quickly for everyone because no one is ready to go back yet. I know for sure I am still not ready to go back into the school mode. Especially when midterms past before the spring break, I feel like there is nothing new to learn just yet. I feel like maybe spring break should start to be two weeks. I know for sure that won't happen, but can't people dream. I know a lot of people would agree with me because everyone's break is coming to an end in a few hours. I did have a lot of things that I planned to do, but I know I couldn't finish in a week, but I did get a lot of things I did not plan to be checked off. I went to parties, kickbacks, hangouts, and just catch up on my sleeping hours which will help my health because I pretty much slept for only two nights because of midterms. It was a crazy week for me and it was followed by a great week. I just wished that we could have a longer break or another day or two off to just relax a little bit more. Hopefully we won;y learn intense stuff in class this coming week.

Spring Break

Spring break for me is almost coming to an end with a few days remaining, but I probably be using that last day to prepare myself for the upcoming school week. Spring break was great for me because it was the break I needed after Mid-terms Week. What I did most during my break was probably relaxing and catching up on my sleep and second thing that I did occasionally during my break off was probably catch up on some things with friends and just hang out and go to parties. Last night I went to a party in Perris, Ca which is over an hour and a half away from Long Beach State. I didn’t get there till around 1am and I had to leave that place around 6am to get back before my parents woke up and discovered that I was gone. When I was there, I lost track of time and ended up leaving at 7:30am and so I had to pretend to sleep at my cousin’s house when in reality, I slept in my car two blocks away from home. It was a crazy night, but now I got to get back into school mode to finish off the school year strong.

Spring Break So Far!!

Although its only been one official day of spring break, to me it seem like it started last week because my midterms were all done the week before. On Monday, I went to watch a movie called Limitless which was an alright movie. It had some unneeded scenes that were included. I would give it a B- for the story because I thought it was a pretty good storyline. On Tuesday, I went to watch Paul. The movie was hilarious, but I felt like there was no point to the movie because it was just dumb. Throughout the movie, I was laughing but when it got to the end of the movie, it sucked. On Wednesday, I went to school because I had to turn something in in my PSY 130 class. On Thursday, I went to a party up in Whittier and it was the first time I seen most of the High school students I used to hang out with there since graduation day. And yesterday, I went to the Lakers game where they played the Los Angeles Clippers. It was a fun week, but I do not know what else I can do this upcoming week which is the real spring break week.

Plans for Spring Break??

So spring break is just around the corner with the last week of midterms in our way. I do not have any plans for the week of our spring break, but I am going into spring break mode a little bit early this year because I am planning to go to SIX FLAGS!!! for the first time of my life on Tuesday. I know its midterm week, but I am pretty much done with all my classes and I am pretty excited to go. Anyone else has any plans on what they are doing for spring break?? I know all I am going to do is stay up late, sleep-ins in the morning, and just go to the beach or pool to swim. But with all the tsunamis alert, I'll take my chances at the pool decks. Probably going to parties and right now, my friends and I are planning to go up to Lake Havasu, but the last time I went there, I had a bad experience. I went before school started in the summer and the weather there was over 105 degrees everyday and I could not handle it. The last time I went, we left a day in a half before the scheduled departure day because no one could handle the heat. Maybe this time would be different and I am looking forward to the week off due to stress over midterms the last three weeks.

Studying Habits

Everyone has different habits when studying, but which way is the most effect way to study? Some people do not even need to study to do well on tests or exams, but many others do. Some people loves to study in groups while others do not like it. Most people like to try to relate what they are studying to something meaningful to them to have something to remember what they need to remember easier. What I do is that I like to write the things I need to learn on paper over and over again until it gets into my head. That is not the most effective way, but that is the way I use to get things into my head. Other things I do is that I usually have a friend teach me step by step and give me practice problems to try and get ready for exams. My brother is one of those who just looks over the book and would learn anything he needs to learn quickly. Some people has to work harder than others to try and get the same result, but life is not fair. Hopefully I find a new technique to study once the mid terms come around which is coming up really soon. If anyone has any new techniques, I am open to hearing new ways for me to study.

Car Crash

I just recently witnessed one of the worst car crashes on the 710 freeway. I was heading the opposite way until the traffic got really bad because of rubberneckers. I was really mad at the beginning but when I got to the position where I could see what had happen on the opposite side, I was pretty amaze by the car crash. What I saw was that out of four lanes and a carpool lanes, all but one was taken up by the car crash. What I saw was that one of the cars being hit by another car from behind which caused another car to be hit on the side which then gets slammed into the wall. While this was happening, my family and I were on the way to bellflower to drop off some things for my mom's friend. What happen that day will never be forgotten because it was so crazy. Later on that day about less than an hour, we all heard it on the radio which told us to not take the 710 and then we all started laughing because we pretty much witnessed it. I do not witness a lot of car crashes but that one is one of the worst ones I have ever seen.

Spring Break Coming Up!!! Midterms FIRST!!

So this week is going to be very stressful for some people because of midterms!!! Some people are studying during breaks as they are walking to other classes and some just studying at the horn center. Students study at the library, and many other places, but what some students should do is study in groups or at the tutoring center!! Some students may already be doing so but I had one session at the tutoring place last week and it was such a big help. Anyone who do not understand anything, I recommend them to go get some help. It would only help for practically nothing in return. I know everyone is studying hard and I do not know if you guys do it but whenever I study, I need a break here and there which is one of the most important tips listed on the site below. I am very happy we do not have a midterm this week in English, but only a paper due which is such a big help for me so that I have more time to study on my other subjects. For some reason I am in the spring break mode already, just wanting to finish up the midterms and have my spring break already!!! Sitting in my room all alone reflecting on the past week just keeps hurting more and more the more times I keep reflecting on this week. Sunday was the worst when me and my brother Vince goes into a verbal fight over something so dumb but when his girlfriend jumped in to make the situation worst, I exploded on her after I was trying to rest my case but she kept on insisting that I was lying. That situation led to my brother Vince and my future sister break up. Monday came and all I heard from my family and relatives was that I should go say sorry to his girlfriend when I try to inform everyone that I had my right to yell back at her because she had no right to call me a liar while I was already mad and resting my case to my brother. That made me more mad about myself and that all this is on me now. Tuesday came and I still haven't talked to my brother since Sunday. That day I went to have lunch with some close friends (Michael and Daniel) but all I heard was that I shouldn't have yell at her while I thought they would understand my point of view. That day I felt like I was on this alone. I then went to hang out with my close friend, Trung's house to hang out with him and my other close friend Rudy. That night they just wanted to cheer me up so we went to seaside. Wednesday came and I carpool with my niece that is only 10 days younger than me and knowing her, I thought she would be the second person (behind my other older brother Chris) to understand my point of view, but I did not get anything from her but just the same thing as everyone else gave me. That night, my other niece Tiffany came over and I told her what had happen and finally I got someone to understand me and she spend the whole night with me to comfort me because I just felt like this is on me. That same night before Tiffany came over, the one thing that made me feel like shit was that my mom told me that I should go say sorry, but while I refuse to, my mom then said, "Are you happy that they broke up now?" All I could think is that everyone still think this is still my fault and that made me fell like I have no one to talk to. Thursday came and still no conversation with my brother. We usually play ball everyday so when I ask if he wanted to play ball, he ignore me and just left to go exercise without telling me anything. He does not have to, but in this situation, he should because I ask if he wanted to in the first place. Back to reality, I am just sitting in my room thinking about what should I do, no one to talk to. Thanks to those who understands my point of view. Any tips?? No links today!!

Bye-bye Bird

Yesterday at around 3 PM my mom walked in the back to check up on the birds. She quickly called my sister to the back to tell her that one of the birds had died. My sister quickly called me to help her clean up the dead bird. I was so freaked out that I had to call my brother Mike, Chris, Bryant, and my sister Michelle to come and help me. The first thing we tried to do was to get the three birds that were still alive into a smaller cage. The first thing we tried to do was to poke the birds with stick to try to get them into the smaller cage. Our technique did not work so we tried to lure them in by leading them in with food. When the birds saw the food they were attacking each other to see who gets to enter the cage first. The way they were fighting to see who gets in first helped us realized that the three birds teamed up to kill the dead bird.
After we were done transferring the birds over, we had to clean up the carcass. Then we said our goodbyes which was the toughest part of the day. You will always be remembered, Beaverjr.

Family Night

Today I went to my cousin Kelly's house. She's 10 days younger than me and she goes to Long Beach with me. We carpool together on Mondays and sometimes Wednesdays. My brothers, sister, and our cousins all came and we played games and just hung out. We played Scategories for a bit and it was fun because we have a really loud family. We get in trouble for being too loud at night but we all think it's kinda funny. We also went to Taco Bell since they have 88cents Crunchwrap Supremes. We forgot to get Kelly one though because we are evil >:) Just kidding. But she was sad we didn't get her one. I am now playing poker on my phone while everyone else is playing Scategories. This stupid person stole my money... Lol, but yeah. I haven't really hung out with Kelly because she doesn't come over often but it's always nice to spend time with her. My cousin Tiff also came with us. Me, Tiff, Kelly, and my brother Chris have a group called TBCK. We're all around the same age and we used to hang out all the time together. We were the ultimate quad! We don't hang out together as much anymore but it's always fun when we're together. Overall it was a good night with the family once again. I love my family.

Nba Free Agents

There are many free-agents today I will be talking about those who are planning to sign with elite teams to play in the playoffs. Of the many free agents, recently Mike bibby just bought out his contract with the Washington wizards. He left $6.2 million on the table to become a free agent. 6.2 million was such a big amount that the Washington wizards cannot deny his wishes. Of the many teams that have been pursuing Mike bibby he is planning to sign with the Miami heat although other big name teams such as Boston Celtics Portland Trail Blazers and Hawks are still trying to pursue them. Another big game free-agent is Troy Murphy, he has just been bought out by the golden state warriors. The two main front runner teams about to get Troy Murphy is the Miami heat and the Boston Celtics. Also the Los Angeles Lakers are trying to make a push for him. The newly acquired New York Nick is planning to have his contract bought out by the Knicks owners and he is planning to sign was either Miami, Chicago bulls, Boston Celtics and three other team. Miami heat is planning to sign TJ Ford if they fail to sign Mike bibby.

Mid-term Week Coming Up

So midterm week is coming up. All i can think about is how stress I am going to be. I look at my brothers and sisters and see how they are ready for spring break and I just cannot wait. I been studying for my math midterm and also been working on my essays for history and English. It is making me not able to think straight that I forgot to write at least two blogs this week so I am going to blog four times this week to get back on track. How many of you forgot to blog at least two times this week? :) Before this weekend hit, I planned to study all week but somehow I rarely studied. Instead of studying, I spend most of my time either playing basketball or watch some boys meets world. I threw some poker online playing and some glee here and there. But most importantly, I been on facebook. I spend only four to five hours study the past two days so I have to start tomorrow morning and hopefully study until Monday. If anyone has tips on how to stay focus on studying, please feel free to share. Other than that, I need to start studying soon and wish me luck. :)

Basketball

To start off this blog, Long Beach State is currently winning at half time. Hopefully they win it in the end. Also going on today was the continuation of the All Star Weekend. Today had four different competition that makes up All Star Saturday. The four different competition consists of the Haier Shooting Stars, 3 Point Contest, Taco Bell Skills Challenge, and the Dunk Contest. The Haier Shooting Stars had four teams; Team LA, Team Texas, Team Chicago, and Team Atlanta. After the first round, Team LA and Team Chicago was eliminated, and Team Atlanta won it all. After the Haier Shooting Stars competition, it was the Taco Bell Skills Challenge which consists of 5 all star point guards; Derrick Rose, Russell Westbrook, Stephen Curry, Chris Paul, and John Wall. After two stages of competition between the players, Stephen Curry from the Golden State Warriors took home the trophy to the Skills Challenge. After that challenge was the 3-Point contest which includes Daniel Gibson, Kevin Durant, Dorell Wright, Paul Pierce, Ray Allen, and James Jones. After the first round, Pierce, Allen, and Jones advanced to the next round with Jones ending up walking away with the trophy. Finally to end out the All Star Saturday was the NBA Dunk Contest. The Dunk Contest consist of DeMar DeRozen, Javale McGee, Blake Griffin, and Sergio Ibaka. The Dunk Contest is based on the fan's votes and Griffin earned his first Dunk Contest Trophy. That ended the All Star Weekend for Saturday with just the NBA All Star Game left to go tomorrow. And most importantly, Long Beach State is winning!!

All Star Weekend

Every sport has a weekend where all the all star from all the teams comes together to join forces to put on a show for the fans. Today, i'll be talking about the basketball all star weekend. This year's all star weekend is taken place in Los Angeles at the Staples Center. On Friday, all star weekend kicks off with the Celebrity Game starring Justin Bieber, Trey Songz and more on the West Team and for the East team are celebrities like Scottie Pippen, Bill Walton and more. Although the East team dominated, Justin Bieber was names MVP (Most Valuable Player) of the Celebrity All Star Game. Following the Celebrity Game will be the Rookies vs Sophmore Game which includes Blake Griffin and Stephen Curry. This game is going on as I am blogging, but I will keep everyone updated. Tomorrow will consists of many contests such as the 3 point contest, Dunk Contest, Skill Challenged, and the game of H-O-R-S-E. To finish off the NBA All Star Weekend is the most important event, The NBA All Star Game. The game will be WEST vs EAST with Chris Paul, Kobe Bryant, Kevin Durant, Carmelo Anthony, and Tim Duncan starting for the West and for the EAST will have Derrick Rose, Dwayne Wade, Lebron James, Amare Stoudemire, and Dwight Howard as their starters. Hopefully the WEST will win!! and KOBE BRYANT for NBA All Star MVP. (235 Words)

Places to go to Kill Time

Have you ever had a hard time finding out where to go to kill time and at the same time have fun? A place not like chucke cheese because it is so childish or dave and busters where its more for adults only? I think I found the right place for you. A place with everything chucke cheese has and dave and busters have combined and much more such as all you can eat buffet, unlimited karaoke with updated songs, and most importantly, the biggest laser tagging arena. The name of this place is called Endless Food & Fun (EFF) located on Edinger and Gothard Ave. This place just opened and its prices are way too cheap comparing to other places with laser tagging, karaoke, arcade games, and sport rooms. First Post Ever

Okay starting off this blog is my name which is Brian Beaver Nguyen. Since there are three Brians in the class, you guys can call me by my middle name, Beaver. Some things that I love to do are playing basketball, hanging out with friends, and going to parties. I am a very sociable guy and easy person to talk to. If you know anything about sports, we are going to be close friends. One of my pet peves is laker haters. I am enjoying my second semester at csulb and is majoring in civil engineering.
